Our Ministries...

Ken and Cindy want to show the love of Jesus in the ways He taught us to, through feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, loving the desperate and binding up the brokenhearted. They are involved in several different types of ministries and community outreaches that do just that.

Community Outreach

Son Shine Ministries offers community Bible studies and Christian counseling. The counseling services they offer are for any broken person, or marriage, who need the hope and encouragement of a Savior. Since they and their ministry are Christian, they believe that all of God's word is without error, and through God's wisdom, the answers to all of life's situations can be found through Him and HIs word. Ken and Cindy were married in 1982, but in 1998 their marriage almost ended due to Ken's alcoholism. However, the Lord intervened and completely restored their marriage. They are now living happily ever after and have 2 grown children, Jessi and Zack.

Prison Outreach

Ken's passion is ministering in jails and prisons. He gives testimony of what the Lord has done for him through his songs, God's word and by his personal experiences. He was a rebellious young man and served a 2 year sentence in prison when he was 19. He can easily relate to the young men of this day and is able to reach them on their level, to communicate the transforming power of God's love and what God can do when they finally get sick and tired of being sick and tired. He has gone into prisons out of the country, all over this country and into our local city jails.

benevolence and helping needy
Benevolence

Son Shine Ministries has a heart for the community. They aid the elderly, the poor and the needy. They help supply physcial needs as well as emotional and spiritual ones. At Christmas, they partner with a large utility comany to provide payment for overdue utility bills for some that are in dire circumstances. It helps them to keep warm at night and their lights on, hopefully remembering the Light of the World, who we celebrate the birth of at this time of year! We also continue to do these things throughout the year if our resources are such that we can. All of these things are done in the name of Jesus. Jesus has certainly shone His light into many homes by this ministry opportunity, with the help of many faithful donors like you!

mentoring recovering addicts
Mentoring

Ken and Cindy also mentor men and women recovering from drug or alcohol addiction, or who have recently been released from prison or jail. They walk along beside them, helping them to adjust to a new lifestyle while teaching accountability, responsibility and self worth. They also help support people new to their faith, to encourage them to find a church, continue on and not give up.

disaster relief
Disaster Relief

When needed, Ken and CIndy also reach out to lend a helping hand when natural disasters strike. They were on the ground when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, passing out food, water, clothing, tents, sleeping bags and prayers. They went back and forth ministering there for 4 months. In October of 2018 they were on the ground bringing food and supplies to the victims of Hurricane Michael, which hit the panhandle of Florida with an absolutely devastating blow.
